The founder,
Usui Mikao
Who is the founder of Reiki?
Mikao Usui
(臼井甕男, 15 August 1865 – 9 March 1926, commonly Usui Mikao in Japanese)
was the founder of a form of spiritual practice known as Reiki, used as an alternative therapy for the treatment of physical, emotional, and mental diseases.
Is Reiki spiritual?
While Reiki is spiritual in nature, it is not a religion.
It has no dogma, and there is nothing you must believe in order to learn and use Reiki.
In fact, Reiki is not dependent on belief at all and will work whether you believe in it or not.
Because Reiki comes from Gd, [ or ‘Source” or “Higher Power” ] many people find that using Reiki puts them more in touch with the experience of their religion rather than having only an intellectual concept of it.
While Reiki is not a religion, it is still important to live and act in a way that promotes harmony with others. Mikao Usui, the founder of the Reiki system of natural healing, recommended that one practice certain simple ethical ideals to promote peace and harmony, which are nearly universal across all cultures.
A treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you.
What is Reiki and how does it work?
The spiritual healing art of Reiki works by channeling positive energy into your body, with Reiki masters and practitioners typically placing their hands on the affected areas of the body that need a boost, offering this energy and your body takes in the energy where most needed.
Health benefits
According to practitioners, the healing effects are mediated by channeling the universal energy known as qi, pronounced “chi.”
In India, this is known as “prana.” This is the same energy involved in tai chi exercise.
It is the life force energy that some believe surrounds all of us.
This energy is said to permeate the body.
Reiki experts point out that, while this energy is not measurable by modern scientific techniques, it can be felt by many who tune in to it.
Reiki is alleged to aid relaxation, assist in the body’s natural healing processes, and develop emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being.
It is also said to induce deep relaxation, help people cope with difficulties, relieve emotional stress, and improve overall wellbeing.
People who receive Reiki describe it as “intensely relaxing.”
Benefits of Reiki Treatments
There are many wonderful benefits of Reiki.
Reiki is a very simple process, but usually produces quite profound effects.
The main purpose of a Reiki treatment is not only to support the physical body, but also to promote a positive mind so you can experience more joy in life.
The great thing about reiki is that one does not have to be ill to experience the benefits.
Some come to Reiki to help with their energy levels, managing the stress of daily life or when transitions are happening in their lives.
Others will come to develop themselves spiritually and experience a greater sense of meaning in life.
Many of my clients are well and want to stay that way so reiki helps them to maintain that harmony so they can respond to the challenges differently.
After a treatment most people feel calm and relaxed, self better and some say they feel energetic, clear-minded and productive
How many Reiki treatments do I need?
It's generally best to receive three to five Reiki treatments one to two weeks apart.
Once you see yourself improving you can space out treatments to one month or six weeks apart.
Receiving regular Reiki treatments is excellent self-care and helps you to maintain holistic balance.
The touch of Reiki is very light on or even off the body. ... Because the activation of Reiki pulsations in the practitioner's hands adjusts to the changing need of the recipient, and stops when appropriate, you can't get too much Reiki, no matter how long the practitioner's hands are in place.
